Seiko Prospex Save the Ocean SRPF77K1

The 'Save The Ocean' collaboration with Fabien Cousteau, grandson of famed underwater conservationist Jacques Cousteau, has been ongoing since 2018. As in the past, a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of these new watches will go to the Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of ways to protect ocean habitats and marine life.

The two featured Seiko watch models remain the same as the previous ‘Save The Ocean’ models, SRPF77 King Turtle and SRPF79 King Samurai . Since the SRPF77 is based on the King Turtle model, you can expect the usual 45mm stainless steel tortoiseshell case with a brushed and polished finish, along with the crown at 4 o’clock.

New updates that you can find on the SRPF77 is the new blue-gray gradient dial, along with this year’s ‘Save The Ocean’ featured species, manta rays. Another update worth mentioning with the SRPF77 is the addition of a sapphire crystal with a magnifier over the day-date, and a black ceramic insert to pair with the dark blue dial.

The silicone strap that comes with the SRPF77 comes in the same dark blue color that was used on the dial. The Seiko Prospex Turtle "Save the Ocean" Dark Manta Ray Special Edition SRPF77K1 dive watch takes classic design features of dive watches and combines them with iconic design features and elements from its vintage dive watches, making them even more appealing to Seiko enthusiasts.

4R36 Seiko Movement

The 4R36 Seiko caliber with day/date display is a mechanical caliber. The watch charges itself automatically while wearing it by converting the wearer's arm and wrist movements into energy. Movement of the watch winds up the watch's mainspring. This spring is the energy source. Manual winding is also possible.

When fully charged, the watch has a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The beat rate of this automatic is 21,600 per hour and the watch has 24 jewels. The 4R caliber is manufactured entirely in-house.
