Help! Which watch should I take with me on holiday?

Would you like to know the time on your wrist but have no idea which watch goes with it?

We have some tips for you!

What kind of holiday are you looking for? Sun, sea and sand? A far exotic trip to Asia? Or just a camping somewhere near the Veluwe?

Our tips:

Are you going on holiday again for a few weeks in France or Spain or perhaps Italy or Portugal?
Then we recommend that you take a watch with a steel or plastic strap, leave your watch with a leather strap at home, these leather straps do not cope well with coarse sand and salty seawater.

In addition, it is also good to think about the value of the watch, many people like myself prefer not to wear watches while sunbathing on the beach and then leave the watch at the campsite, the chance is small but this can of course be stolen, if you have sentimental value with the watch, we also recommend that you store this watch safely at home.

Before you take a dip in the pool or a dive in the sea, make sure you are wearing a watch that is at least 5 ATM water resistant, in most cases this is stated on the watch or on the back of the watch case, if the watch is below 5 ATM then the watch will fill up with water, this is virtually irreparable.

If you want to dive, you will need a watch with a higher ATM value, as the pressure of the sea can cause the glass of the watch to crack and break.

We always recommend that you do not keep your watch underwater for too long, keep it out of the sun as much as possible to prevent color deviations and overheating of the movement, and keep the watch away from sand as this can scratch the glass.

Finally, I advise you not to look at your watch or worry about the time that much... after all, you are on holiday!

Have a wonderful holiday from the Van Dam Juwelier team in Ermelo!
