Why the GA-2100 is the ideal watch!

If you are in the watch world, the name Casio will not have escaped you. G-Shock in particular is an iconic line, about which many watch geeks have formed an opinion. One finds it an awkward, large and heavy timepiece. While the other is fascinated by the numerous functions, colorful collections and the affordable prices. I myself sell G-Shocks at the jeweler, but I never saw myself wearing one. I have small wrists (17 cm) and did not think this would be a nice combination with a G-Shock.
GA-2100
I myself did not own a G-Shock. Until the GA-2100 series was announced in August 2019. Three models were released: GA-2100-1A, GA-2100-1A1 and the GA-2100-4A. Watches with a diameter of 45.4mm and a thickness of only 11.8mm. These are the thinnest G-Shocks ever made.
Design
The design is very simplistic and has a calm appearance. It is a G-Shock different from others, one with a classic and iconic look, but that does not scream G-Shock, but still recognizes as G-Shock. The model contains a strong octagonal bezel. The hands and indexes contain a lume layer. Compared to other watches, this lume variant is very light. This is partly because the watch is meant not to look too oppressive. The watch is strong, very strong even due to the carbon-resin mix casing. Synthetic resin is the ideal material for watches due to its extreme durability. Because the synthetic resin is combined with carbon, the watch is absurdly resistant to external influences. I myself sometimes drop it for fun, you really don't see anything. Partly due to the hardened mineral glass, this watch can be compared to a tank, indestructible. Ideal if you are in the army, for example, or do other outdoor activities on a daily basis.
Features
The watch shows the hours, minutes and day of the week analogously. The seconds can be read on the digital screen, just like the current day and month. The watch also has an AM/PM indicator and you can choose to change the 12 or 24 hour notation. I, who live in the Netherlands, am used to military time. You can easily set this. If you want to know what time it is somewhere else in the world, you can easily use the World Time function. There is also a stopwatch function with which you can measure a time period of up to 24 hours. This is accurate to 1/100th, very accurate. In addition, the watch contains a timer, which you can set 24 hours in advance. And you can set 5 alarms per day.
Price tag
The model is only €99.90 to €129,- euro. Compared to the average G-Shock and its price, this is relatively cheap. Also because of the points mentioned above. It contains numerous functions, has a special appearance and develops an iconic name.
Own use
I mainly wear Seiko watches, the Presage line is my favorite. Great watches with special movements. However, this watch lacks the sturdy casing that a G-Shock does. I go out with friends every month and don't want to think too much about the possible damage my watch will sustain. You bump into something or someone and there is always a chance of drinks spilling over it. The G-Shock is perfect for these kinds of occasions. That's why I bought the GA-2110ET-8AER as a test. A watch that was released together with the GA-2110ET-2AER in November 2020. Exactly the same model as the GA-2100, but with a newer look. I really always wear this watch, it has become a kind of obsession. I shower with it, sleep with it and walk through the forest with it. Branches that fall against it, walls that I scrape against. And every time I look at the mineral glass I see no damage. For a price tag of around €99.90, this watch is truly ideal!
