The rich history of Swarovski

Daniel Swarovski was born in 1862 in northern Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. His father, a glass cutter, had a small glass factory where the young Swarovski learned the art of glass cutting. In 1892 he patented an electric cutting machine, which made it possible to produce crystal glass. In 1895 a factory was established in Wattens (Tyrol, Austria), where the special techniques that Swarovski had developed were used to make crystal affordable for everyone. That was the beginning of the Swarovski empire. The original logo with an edelweiss flower was replaced in 1977 by the SAL logo (the abbreviation for Swarovski America, Ltd. ). In 1988, this logo was replaced by the swan logo, which still represents all Swarovski jewelry today. At the Swarovski headquarters, which is still located in Wattens, new shapes and techniques are still being developed every day to push the boundaries of crystal.
