Tip 1: Remove your jewelry when you go to sleep
Gold jewelry wears out less quickly if you take it off before you go to sleep. During sleep, a lot of friction occurs on the jewelry, which makes it thinner faster than if you were not wearing it while sleeping.
Tip 2: Remove your jewelry when showering, swimming or exercising
During sports, there is a chance that you will get caught with your gold necklace, which will then break, but frequent sweating also ensures that the jewelry gets dirty faster and affects the gold. Swimming is not recommended because swimming water often contains chlorine and this also affects your gold jewelry. This causes them to become dull or wear out faster. The same applies to the shower, it is best to take off the jewelry. Soap and shampoo often contain aggressive degreasing components that can affect your jewelry.
Tip 3: Clean your gold jewelry regularly
Polishing with a special polishing cloth ensures that the jewelry looks like new again, but the polish also provides a protective layer that protects your jewelry from external influences. For example, clean your rings thoroughly with an old (clean) toothbrush. Skin grease and dust can cause your jewelry - especially if you wear them very much - to become dirty and this causes the gold to wear out faster.
Good care is half the battle. A piece of jewelry is not meant to wear out or break quickly, but it remains decoration and a valuable material. In general, we therefore recommend that you take off your jewelry when you exercise, work in the garden or when you work in construction. If you want a thorough cleaning, you are more than welcome to bring your jewelry to us. We clean the jewelry in a special ultrasonic bath, which uses vibrations to remove every speck of dirt from the jewelry. Then we polish the jewelry so that it looks like new again.
