Seiko SPB501J1: A tribute to the first Seiko diving legend

The Seiko Prospex SPB501J1 pays homage to the iconic '62MAS' from 1965 – Japan's very first diving watch. This PADI Special Edition combines Seiko's heritage of diving expertise with a modern, eco-conscious design. The emerald green dial symbolizes the sun's rays breaking through the water's surface, like a diver looking up during a deep dive.

Developed in collaboration with PADI – the world’s largest diver training organization – this watch embodies everything Prospex stands for: Professional Specifications.

Specifications of the Seiko SPB501J1

The case of this model is made of stainless steel and measures 40 mm in diameter, with a thickness of 13 mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 46.4 mm. The sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside protects the emerald green dial, on which the date is subtly positioned at 4.5 o'clock.

The steel bracelet features a folding clasp with safety and a solid micro-adjustment up to 15 mm. In addition, an additional Seichu strap made of durable nylon is included. The SPB501J1 is equipped with a screw-down crown, screw-down caseback and a unidirectional bezel – everything you need for a serious diving experience.

Inside, the automatic 6R55 movement with 24 jewels and an accuracy of +25 to -15 seconds per day works. Thanks to the magnetic protection up to 4,800 A/m, this watch is also resistant to external influences.

Why choose the Seiko SPB501J1?

The SPB501J1 combines classic looks with modern technology. The stainless steel case with super-hard coating is equipped with a domed sapphire crystal and anti-reflective coating. The unidirectional rotating bezel, screw-down crown and 300-meter water resistance make it a full-fledged diving watch.

Inside ticks the Seiko caliber 6R55 – an automatic movement with a power reserve of 72 hours. The watch comes with two straps: a steel strap with micro-adjustment and an additional Seichu nylon strap, woven from recycled fishing nets using a traditional Japanese technique.

The hands, indexes and bezel are equipped with Lumibrite, so that you can always see the time, even in dark depths.
